Hi folks,
We would like to sell our work from our web site and just wonder if ......

Has any pottery sold their work over the net?
Did the customer pay by credit card?
Did you make to order or sell from stock?
Any problems setting up the sale by credit card web site?
Any hidden costs in credit card processing?
Do you think it was worth it for the sales?

Any advice you can offer would be helpful,

Kind regards,

Stephen + Karen Parry-Thomas.

I have sold pieces on Ebay and other sites.

Yes and no, sometimes paid by money order.

Both.

See below information about x.com

See below

Absolutely. I hve developed a relationship w/ a gallery owner who originally
purchased from me at an auction site, and now buys sight unseen based on
description.

Now, the following is going to sound like a commerical. It IS a commerical,
but the product costs NOTHING. I found out about it when a gallery owed me
money and sent it to me via X.com. It's free, there are no minimums, and you
can use it to receive credit card payments and eChecks via secure server:

takes less than two minutes. What do you get?

* FREE money transfers (send money instantly to anyone's email)

Sounds great! But it's not for all Clayarters. Please correct me if I'm
wrong, but the social security number required to sign up surely means that
only citizens of the USA can do so.

Waiting till the rest of us are included... and not exactly holding my
breath.

I've been using PayPal, no social security number required and no fees. It's
an alternative for growing a business. They don't yet have official
"business services," but when I inquired, they told me to feel free to use
the "personal" service for my small business. They will continue to develop
a more complete business service. I've used it both to pay and receive funds
and am happy with how it works. Not only can they process VISA and
MasterCard, but they can process electronic checks so your customers don't
even have to have a credit card and they don't have to wait until snail mail
brings you their payment.

This may not be for everyone, but I like it for online transactions. I have
a little card-swiper for face to face sales and wasn't thrilled with the
additional costs for secure server setup, processing and maintenance.
