porcelain slip on raku

Hello,

I am using a new Raku mix (well, new to me) and the clay body
contains a ton of quartz, and the quartz is turning black during the
reduction phase of firing, which makes little black dots show up
through my white crackle glaze, 80gb 20 custer feldspar.

I was wondering if I was to put a thin porcelain slip on the pots
during the leather hard phase, if it would be durable fired to raku
temperatures, and if there were any recommended slip formulas for
something like this.

Thanks in advance!

The Raku claybody that I use: I tried also as a slip to cover a piece as
well as trailing slip and it passed it peacefully. For using as a slip , on
the greenware I added defocculents. This recipe is based on a recipe of V.C.
He offers two kinds of kaolin I use what I have.

Hi Jeff,
I use a thick porcelain slip on Pieppenburg Raku clay and Raku it. I used
just a porcelain clay mixed with water to make a thick slurry. I use it for
texture. I have about a 30% cracking rate doing this but I really like the
results so continue to do it.
