using wire for armature

What type of wire can be used for armature for low fire temps? Can one use
coathanger wire? Of course I know about high temperature Kanthal wire but it
is too expensive to use for earthenware projects. Any ideas are appreciated.

Jim,
Ordinary steel begins to deform at 200 deg C, chemically bound water is
released at 600 deg C, your armature would be totally collapsed at that
stage and you won't have reached bisque temp.
