While we are on the subject of kilns with controllers. We have a kiln at
school that we seldom use that is equipped with a controller. The book keeps
going missing so I don't know how to program it for a slower firing that the
automatic slow mediium or fast that it already has in it.

How does one program it to candle overnight and then what sort of rate do
you use for a bisque load of heavy hand bouilt pieces. I normally fire the
other kiln with an over night candle and a eight plus hour firing to 05.

Celia,
Since this is not apparently an emergency, I would suggest that you contact
the person you bought the controller from and ask them to send you a new copy
of the instruction book. When I ordered mine from Olympic they sent me a fax
of the entire book, that is a possibility also. If all else fails, contact
me. I made a copy of the book and keep it at home in case the one at school
gets lost.

Celia,

I don't know for a fact, but I suspect that different controllers will have
slightly different operating instructions. If you're going to be using this
kiln for a while, maybe you'd like to write to the manufacturer for a copy
of their instruction sheet. Mine came with both an operating manual and a
quick reference sheet. The latter would probably be enough to figure out how
to program the kiln.
