silicon carbide beams

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with using silicon
carbide beams that span the width of a kiln, so that posts are needed only
at the edges, not in the middle. I'm looking to solve the problem that we
fire such large pieces that they can only sit on the top layer of shelves,
where there are no posts. The bottom of the kiln has to be filled up with
smaller wares that we don't necessarily want to be firing.

Mostly I'm worried about stability when these beams are set up 30-36
inches into the air. Seems to me the top layer has a lot of inertia--it
wants to stay where it is when you begin to push the car in, and keep going
when the car stops. Is there a way around this problem, if problem it indeed be?

TIA,
Nikom (suffering along with everyone else in record-setting cold Thailand (I
blame the gas guzzlers of the developed world, but it doesn't make me any
warmer.))
