I thought I could just , let it go, but I've
OBVIOUSLY ruffled a few feathers and being a "newbie" ( I like
to think of it as a Virgin) of Clayart I will clarify EXACTLY
what I meant

It is precisely because the kiln is SO big, and there are SO many
people involved, and we only do it twice a year , and most of us
are Virginal Wood Firers, that the majority of us look on the firings
as a chance to "try something new " , in those 2 firings. It
gives us that opportunity! You can't make a living out of 2 firings a
year, no one expects to, So for us here , it's play time , try
something new time, get hot and dirty time, stick another stick in
time.......

The rest of the year , for most of us , we're working in our home
studios, making pots that support ourselves and our families ,
honing skills , getting better at what we do as Artists, asking
ourselves questions, adding to the heap in the back yard by chucking
out the crap,
firing our kilns , making our pots, NOT by the seat of our
pants but with confidence and skill

You find your path, whatever that might be , and you run with it
but WHEN those opportunities ( we all get them, it's a RULE ,
not a myth), to lighten up, have some fun, try something new,
are GIVEN to you , you better take 'em
Just say THANKS , and JUST DO IT cheers Deb
Taylor the claybroad at the end of the hall....it's a long story.....
