Hi Burt,
A local potter friend who uses ITC a lot, and has only good things
to say about it except the price, brought me a sample to analyze on xray
fluorescense and xray diffraction. XRF tells me what elements are in the
sample and in what proportions, but will not measure all elements. XRD
will tell me any crystalline mineral or other natural or synthetic compound
that is present, but not the amounts. After doing these two tests I can
tell you that I have more than a pretty good idea of what is in ITC. If you
use the safety precautions recommended for its application, and you are
willing to take on the hazards of being a potter, rest easy. It is as
safe/dangerous as most of the common clay and glaze ingredients.
