cranberry crazing

I have noticed that all of the copper red glazes that I use (and I use five
of them) will craze, more on some bodies than others and if the red is very
dark it will be more difficult to see, they all seem to craze. One of the
best and easiest way to reduce the crazing is to use a very fine silica, 400
mesh or finer. There are clearly some health hazards when using this silica,
but not in the fired glaze. Use a good mask when mixing the dry materials.
Good luck, David Cuzick, San Diego, CA
