Hello everyone,

I am planning a short road trip up to the Door County region in Wisconsin
and was hoping to go to a few potters studios. Are there any
recommendations? I'll probably go up Oct. 23rd.

You can email responses: mailto:llimas@spss.com

Thanks in advance.

You could stop in Sheboygan, WI and visit the John Michael Kohler Arts
Center, downtown @ New York and 7th Street. They just completed the
renovations to the buildings and a visit to the bathrooms is to die for.
The tile jobs were done by some of the artist in residence at the Kohler
Company. Certainly, there is much more to the arts center, but the
bathrooms were the talk of the town when the new building was opened this
past July. Then you could head west about 10 mile to Elkhart Lake and visit
Two Fish Gallery at 244 East Rhine Street, (920)876-3192. Great collection
of ceramic and fiber arts.
Pam in Sheboygan County.....will be at the John Glick workshop that
weekend.

Lisa,

You are picking a great time to visit our county, maybe just a bit late
for maximum leaf peeping, but at a time when there will be less tourists

than leaves . I'll contact you again off list after I have had a
chance to gather up some of the names and numbers. We have some 8
producing pottery shops and I don't know how many gift shops, I'll list
you a favorite or two.

It's been 5 years since I parked my little sail boat up here, patted
her on the hull, and told her she was home, that I'd be back. It's a
lovely, wonderful, unbelievable place (in my humble opinion) most
especially if you love water. We have all kinds of it, more coast, more
light houses, and more parks than any other county.

The big thing is, I think, that there are many "hidden" treasures. One
of my favorites is a school up and in the woods called "The Clearing".
The
place, just walking between the buildings, gives me goose bumps. Our
mel may be giving a workshop there in Fall/2000. I have a couple of
his pieces and Kurt's pieces here also to show. What great stuff!
