alaska trip / grandson's hand print in clay

Just got back from Alaska and it was wonderful. Didn't see too much because
I was busy with the birth of my Grandson. His name is Bryce Allen Ramler
and he is beautiful if I do say so myself.... This is my first Grandchild
and I was in the delivery room with my daughter and son-in-law. The
experience was magical, to view the most awesome, creative process in the
universe. It truly touched my heart and spirit like no other moment in my
life to see him born and stretch his little arms and legs.
He planned his journey (one day after his due date) so I could have a week
with his Mom and Dad and then a week with him. To hold him in my arms and
see his little face and touch his tiny fingers brought such tears of joy and
an overwhelming feeling of what life is all about. Family, friends, love,
peace, hope, creativity, joy, freedom, etc...and this all has left me with a
new breath for my work in clay. He touched me to the depths of my soul and
I truly feel honored to be a Grandmother. Well enough of this mushy stuff,
I could go on forever, I am still in the celebration bubble of pure
joy.....
Thank you to those that helped with ideas about making feet and hand prints.
I used Crayola soft clay (air dry). The clay was so soft he slept through
the imprints. When he is a little older his Mom is taking him to a potter
and having a plaster mould done and sending it to me to make family tiles.
We figured he went through enough coming into the world without having
people play with his feet and hands the first week. John Rodgers from NM
had a great idea to use native clay from Alaska for the tiles.
You are all so wonderful I couldn't wait to get back and share my news with
the list.

Has anyone had an experience that changed their work in clay?
Thanks again!!!!

Best Wishes,
Audrey
