lime pop-outs

Hello,

I have solved lime pop-out problems with a 40 mesh screen. In my
case, however, the offending chunks occurred naturally in the clay, and were
huge. A 20 mesh screen might have caught them as well. Louis Katz, by the
way, has made the claim that anything smaller than 30 mesh won't cause a
problem. So, to be on the safe side, 50 mesh oughta do it.

Regards,
Nikom in Thailand, happy to have located a pit whose clay has no lime
whatsoever in it, and so not having to worry about this problem any longer.

I think the claim was that this was a standard size used by clay manufacturers,
but in either regard it should work in everything except very soft fired clay
and porcelain. In both these instances smaller particles seem to be a problem.

Awaiting 17500 pounds of APG from a company in San Antonio called Baytech who
should have delivered it already, hoping that despite the new packaging it will
keep working for carved murals.
The clay is for a class to be taught by Suwanee Natewong on large scale Ceramic
Murals.
