from the room of nils, kurt and mel.
great conference, folks from all over the world
425 of us.
univrsity of iowa.
the theme that we have come up with is:
those that know flame, heat, wood, kilns have
the total knowledge of ceramics.

you have to have smoke now and then to get
that knowledge.

chuck hines is a great host...we all feel at home.
there is a nice spirit here....all are friendly...left
the egos at home.

just a side bar:
it was a great conference, great people, well run.
with some comments that i have made about aesthetics, philosophy
of wood kilns etc...i do not want to leave the impression with anyone,
especially those that put on that conference, that it was anything but
GREAT.

i had the time of my life, and so did nils and kurt.

we all have ideas and opinions about fuel, kilns, what should be
done, and that is our right...we are older, wiser potters, that have
been around a great many blocks....so our opinions get snappier.

but, the wood gang is great...they respect clay, fire, and the process.
i was very clear on that with my first post....so, just want to never
leave the impression that we do not care a great deal for the fire folks.
they are the best.
