Greetings from Yelm, WA. =21

Our next Visiting Artist Workshop at Architektura in Yelm, WA. will be:

HANDS-ON RAKU with JOH HARRIS September 18 10am - 6 pm

This workshop will be hands-on while John demonstrates his unique
glazing =26 firing techniques. The relationship between form and
decoration will be explored to develop your personal style.

John will demo and discuss the following:
Copper =26 Iron Decoration
Haloing Techniques
Even application of terra sig and slips
Crackle glazes and how to fire them successfully
Glaze recipe handouts
Post firing techniques to create special effects
AND probably alot more =21

Participants should plan on a FULL DAY OF RAKU FIRING.
Bring bisqued pieces or we will have bisqued pots available for sale in
the studio.
Also bring your personal favorite glaze brushes.

John Harris has been a studio potter since 1973, studying at the
University of Oregon and California State University at Fullerton. John
has
developed unique raku techniques which distinquish his work. He also

works with low fire and wood firing. John=92s pots are published in
Robert Piepenburg=92s Raku book. His work is represented by galleries and

is privately collected. John currently maintains a studio in Washington

State and is considered by many, to be one of the top potters in the
Pacific NW..

Tuition: =2460 includes glazes, materials and firing up to 10 pieces per
person.
