Providence is experiencing a renaissance and has become a Destination, a
place to stop and experience many new and exciting features. Providence has
a large and thriving art community, AKA: Rhode Island School of Design, Umass
Dartmouth program in Artisanry, Brown university, Rhode Island College
Ceramics with new Head Bryan Steinberg, Salve Regina College with Jay
Lacature, and many others. The mayor of Providence incorporating an Arts
district, has designated the city as a tax free zone for artists who live and
work in the city. Providence Place Mall has recently opened to accolades far
and wide. Waterfire, an art installation on 2 rivers running through
downtown and into Waterplace Park is performed on scheduled weekend nights
throughout the year and has acquired international attention. Florence Italy
has become a sister city and will be doing an exchange of art and artisans
this October. So check us out, come to Raku Rhody-O and experience.
