I buy them from Daltile, the country's largest tile manufacturer. They have
showrooms and distribution centers in most big cities. I buy 6" and 8"
bisque tiles. There seems to be a difference in policy between areas about
selling them to non-contractors. Also, they usually have to be ordered from
Dallas. I had lots and lots of problems getting mine, a very long story
indeed, but I did get them and hope to be able to get more when I need them.
I believe the 6" size is available all the time, but for the 8" you have to
wait till they make up a new run, which may be several months. Give your
nearest distributor a call; if you get unacceptable answers, contact me
offline and maybe I can give you more advice.

I get mine from DalTile too (Florida). They have to order but the only ones
available her are 4" and 6". Usually takes a week to get, although it's always
a challenge. They've been ordered and delivered to the show room. I go to pick
them up and it takes a half hour for them to find them.

Gail,
Paul Lewing, who's work you can see at http://www.tiles.org informs me that
you can buy bisque tiles through Seattle Pottery Supply and Clay Art Center
in Tacoma, WA. The largest size is 6x6 in a white stoneware made by Toucan
Tile. I decided to do my own in the end, so I have not had any dealings with
either company, but it's a start.

In South Texas, grateful that hurricane Brit did no more than rain on me.

Hi Gail,

I order my tiles from HBD Ceramics of Leland Michigan. He advertises in CM
(phone is 616-256-9139. I've never had any breakage of tiles he has
shipped - he packs the cartons with insulating foam. Has a good variety of
sizes and styles - all H&R Johnson from England. Good prices, too.

Leona
