Hi Audrey,
I am not sure about using Phoenix for pit firings or raku. I love raku and =
love
to watch others, but I have never done that myself. As far as pit firing =
goes,
I haven't done that either. But I intend to and will probably use Phoenix. =
So
far it has been a very sturdy clay to work with. I met a potter this year =
who
is very much into production and she uses Phoenix. The salesperson at =
Highwater
told me that several potters in the Asheville area use this clay. The =
catalog
says it is perfect for the oven. I also use Craggy Crunch for handbuilding.
Highwater says this clay has 3 different sizes of grog (19=25 total) and is
beautiful in wood fired kilns. I wish I could tell you more, maybe you =
could
call Highwater or Campbells for more info.
Sheron in NC where we have finally been blessed with rain. and lightening. =
and
thunder. and power surges. but I am not complaining :)
