The recipe is from an article in the April 1990 Ceramics Monthly by
Beatrice and Robert Pearson. I have a bowl with this glaze that I
bought from Dave Yunger a Minnesota potter. I use it and wash it
daily. No damage yet, but I've only had it a month. Beautiful glaze.
I fired a small load and can attest that thickness of application seems
vital. I am not very experienced at glazing and firing, so take this as
such. Another cone 6 oxidation glaze that looks good to me is the Blue
Hare's Fur in the Jun-July Clay Times. Same variable results based on
thickness, from clear amber to opalescent creamy blue hare's fur. I
find these glazes much more interesting than the usual opaque cone 6
oxidation glazes. Would sure like to find a few more that offer such a
variety of surface interest. Also would like to see more about
durability and clay body fit on the iron glaze. Are you there Mudlark?
