costco - credit card accounts

updated sun 8 aug 99

Being a potter that goes to shows in only about 6 months of the year, we were
delighted when Costco (Price Club) offered a merchant's credit card account
with NO monthly minimum charge last year. Now, 9 months later they are
"upgrading" their accounts to drop some of the per item charges but have hit
us with a minimum per month. I feel like I've been taken advantage of by
'corporate America' with this switching tactic. Does anyone out there know of
any alternative sources for credit card accounts without minimum monthly
charges? I, plan to complain to Costco, but I'm not hopeful.

I look forward to responses to this question. My boyfriend and I each
work for separate businesses using CostCo credit card services
(unrelated to my pottery work); both of us were frustrated and irritated
at the recent notification of a *minimal* rate decrease accompanied by
the new *minimum* service charge!! We just signed up a few months ago,
and went with them purely because of No Monthly Service Charge.
Boyfriend changed his business from another service to CostCo for the
same reason. While it's still less than what I had found other places,
I anxiously await hearing what sort of services others have.

Call Kellis WIlliams, Reg Mgr for First Merchants Bankcard Services (800)
477-0173 ext 163. I have had an excellent relationship with them under
similar circumstances.
