------------------
I have just recently recieved an appreciated suggestion to help the clear =
glaze
I use from crazing, as well as reducing it's glossiness.

That was kindly submitted by by Marla Harris.

In the same group of postings came the informative message from Rafael =
Molina
about the toxicity of burning waxes.

I can avoid these fumes myself by being out of my workshop when the kiln is
firing, but I am as equally concerned for our environment's safety as I am =
for
my personal safety. I live in that environment=21

The idea of adding the wax to the low firing clear clay as stated is to =
improve
the surface. Does anyone have any other suggestions another addivitive for
reducing crazing and/or gloss for a commercially prepared transparent glaze,
cone 04?

PS On a personal note - I am a transplanted American. I moved over here =
after
marrying my Great Dane.
I fortunately have the opportunity to instruct ceramics at our city's open
ceramic studio, however my background and education is strictly American=21 =
I am
very drawn to many natural, quiet, calm, beautifully understated surfaces
exhibited by many Danish ceramists.

Best regards.
