Hi Vivian,

I took the old motor off and went to an electrical motor shop. They ordered
a new DC motor with the correct shaft and a variable speed control. (About
$110 ). I got an empty plastic box from Radio Shack to put the speed control
switch in. Mounted the new motor and wired up a new control box on the side.
Had to take the loosen the pan from the base and move it some to accommodate
the new motor since the shaft was slightly longer. The shaft of the motor
goes into a transmission that turns the wheel head. They were very helpful
at the motor shop and there was a wiring diagram with the speed control. The
new motor makes more noise than the old one, but is getting better now that
the brushes are wearing in. Or I am getting use to it. Good luck.

You said you are in Leesburg. What state?
