fwd: outdoor sculpture clay body/preventing warpage

<< Hi, folks. I'm a fairly new subcriber, and haven't been able to find any
info. in the archives regarding my question. I'm looking for a clay body
recipe to be used for outdoor sculpture work. I would like to find a clay
body that would become fairly vitreous at c4-6. (Is it correct that I'm
aiming for a 1.5 - 3% porosity?)

I'm firing in an electric kiln that limits the height of my pieces to 42".
I want to make items bigger than this. So, I need to fire pieces in
sections. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to achieve a proper amount
of vitrification and yet limit warpage, so pieces will fit back together
again. Presently, I build my pieces by coiling, so I want a fair degree of
plasticity. Is all this possible?

I appreciate your imput.

A clay with a heavy grog would probably work well for your purposes.
Check with your local supplier and ask if they have such a thing. If not
maybe they can mix up a special batch for you to try.
