converting my kiln- help

I have a similar situation with an old electric kiln that I had a melt down
in at school. I pulled off the kiln sitter and electric hardware for the
switches, but am left with a mess of melted down earthenware pots at the
bottom of the kiln. I'm considering removing the bottom section completely,
there are three, to get a clean start. Then of course I would need a new
bottom. Would a bed of fire bricks be enough? Any advice on how to hook up
the burner and where to put it? Any info and reports on your progress would
be much appreciated. Paula Sibrack Marian, in the woods of Sherman, CT
