ITC100HT is the full name for ITC100. There are other versions of ITC for =
other
coating applications.

We just brushed on ITC100 onto our (never washed) shelves, top and bottom =
and
sloppy on the edges, this past weekend. (The stuff clogged our sprayer, so =
we
used a paintbrush.) Fired a glaze load right on top of the shelves (without
bisquing the shelves) and the glaze that hit them popped right off with the
least finger pressure. No flaking onto ware below. Didn't coat the posts =
and
didn't put anything between the posts and the shelves. I'm hooked.

It took about a cup of ITC100 max (mixed with 1/2 cu of water, per =
directions)
to do all the shelves for our 10 cu foot kiln.

In the May '99 issue of CM =22Questions=22 column, Nils recommends ITC100HT =
for
kiln shelves. Are there various grades of ITC100, or is that just the
complete name for it? I thought I heard someone else on clayart say that
ITC as a wash didn't release well when dripped on? Who to believe?=21=21

Spray the inside and outside with ITC213--you should not have to replace
thereafter--NL

=3E We use rigid, galvanized steel tubing as an exhaust outlet for the
flexible
=3E hoses from our Orton kilnvents I noticed today that the exhaust tubing =
is
=3E finally beginning to corrode from the inside. It'll be time to replace =
it
=3E before the school year starts again in the fall. I've had to replace the
=3E flexible tubing several times because it's so flimsy, but the rigid =

has
=3E made it almost 5 years.
=3E
=3E Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement that would be better =
than
the
=3E galvanized steel? Would stainless steel be better, or is it
cost-prohibitive?
=3E
=3E FYI, we use the two kilns that exhaust through this tubing to bisque a
cone 10
=3E stoneware body.
=3E
=3E Any suggestions are welcome=21

I wonder why it did not work in my kiln? Maybe because I only fired to cone
04?
I followed the directions and applied thinly, but ended up chipping my
shelves as usual.
Any thoughts that this stuff will only work at high temperatures?

Frank Gaydos responded to the post about itc and shelf release below. I
include both posts so it all makes sense. I have found that some glazes
release and some do not. I fire cone 6-7.
