Dear Ellen,

I have done torch glazing to get the borealis effect on the black
glaze. This does not last and I have not found a material which will
hinder the reoxidizing of the glaze. My formula is:

1 part copper carb.
1 part manganese carb.
1 part fritt 3134

Do not apply too thickly as it will run. This material works at Cone
04. After firing, I apply the torch in spots and get iridescent
colors. The colors fade usually within a year. I have not tried
"Future" floor wax on these pots. This may work. THIS WILL RUN IF NOT
APPLIED IN A THIN COAT.

Good Luck, Bonnie Staffel
