A while back seeping clay came up as a topic & I had a bit of a problem with
some scrap clay I had recycled. If fact I recycle most of the clay I use
(donated by friends who don't have the time or energy.) I had some clay
seep. SHOCK. I didn't want to dry out clay to weigh in a percentage of
feldspar. I have several types of clay unspecified other than cone. I
rolled out a tube of clay about the same diameter as a plastic jar hanging
out by the wedgetable. I measured 20 inches of clay & wedged in 1 inch of
dry feldspar & figured the percentage to be about 5-12%. I guess I could
have weighed it also. Presto no seeping, warping, or bloating.
Joy in Tucson weeding out the forest of volunteer tomatoes. Seems that every
seed my chickens pooped sprouted. I hated weeding them out but the official
tomato plants deserve a chance. I thought chicken doo was so hot it would
burn everything?
