tourist questions: nyc

Although this question is not specifically clay-related, I have to check
in with Clayart, the largest source of diverse information in the
history of the world (well.....it seems like it sometimes).

My significant other and I will be taking the Southern Crescent to NYC
in June for our anniversary (20th! wow...). We are arranging our hotel
plans. Any suggestions? (Luxury and chi-chi-ness not required, just a
nice, comfortable, interesting place) Some of the places in Tribeca or
Greenwich seem kind of intriguing. I'd love to hear about anyone's
experiences. I did look at the recent thread on NYC attractions in the
archives, but if anyone has anything to add, please do.
Post off list to:

Thanks,

Pawleys Island, SC 29585

STRICTLY a rumour that NCECA 2001 will be at Pawleys Island so we can
have an oyster roast.
Although I could put out a few extra crab traps....Crab Dip for 3500?.
Someone else would have to bring the crackers.
Hmmmmm.

DEAR lORI,
i go to NYC as often as I am able and know my way around quite well. Here is a
bed and breakfast agency we have used 2 times and had excellent results both
times. They have 2 ways to get a place 1)HOSTED-the owner has you in their
home(APARTMENT MOST LIKELY) 2) UNHOSTED-WE WERE TO MEET THE OWNER AND LEFT
WITH A KEY AND SHE MET US BEFORE WE LEFT TO RETURN THE KEY(we were amazed at
that arrangements but it was great).yOU tell them where you wish to stay and
agree on the price and accomodations( MAKE SURE IT IS A SECURE BUILDING)
We had a hosted one in midtown manhattan the first time and the gentleman
served breakfast.
The next time we got an unhosted (MORE EXPENSIVE) young woman's ground floor
apartment in soho in the midst of the gallery/restaurant area that even
opened to an inside courtyard and had a stocked frig and bar (WE DID NOT TAKE
ADVANTAGE OF HER HERE, JUST A SODA, EVEN THO WE WERE TOLD TO HELP
OURSELVES).I frankly was astonished someone in NYC would trust total
strangers that way and hoped she never had any problems, but it was fabulous.
Have your dates when you call as the agency is very busy, not southern ,you
know.
It has been a few years since we used them as we had a condo available thru
my husband's company on wall street later on
