Dear Clayart Friends -
Although I am a =22senior citizen=22 and have just been back working as a =
=22potter=22
for the past 6 years and therefore a rank amateur, I am trying very hard to
become a good potter. I relish the idea of being a potter and although I =
have
been lurking and learning from y'all I am quite disconcerted by this ongoing
HANDMADE thread.

I have been very reluctant to voice any opinions on this list because of my
reticence in the company of so many great professionals. I just felt I had =
to
jump in on this one though because I find it very negative and destructive =
to
those, who like me, are trying to learn about the =22Art=22 of pottery. Why=
are we
beating each other up on a subject that will probably have no end. Please =
let's
not create another political mess like the ones in Europe which have gone on=
for
centuries.

I think the CLAYART name says it all. Can we raise the level of discussion =
so
that so much space is not used for building another Berlin Wall???

I will be building my first little wood-fired kiln on April 17 - 18/99 and =
am so
excited about the future even at my advanced number of years. I love this
=22pottery business=22 and can not wait for the next morning to get going =
again.
Isn't this what it is all about???

Let's declare everybody a winner who is lucky enough to be able to do what =
they
want when they want as we do and get on with the education and fun part of
pottery. (Sorry to be so long winded.)
