Hi gang,

We're heading for Sacramento next week. Can anyone recommend any decent
galleries, museums, or potters to visit. Our tastes are (generally) high =
fire,
with a preference for wood, salt, and soda, but any interesting work would =
be
great. Thanks in advance.

Hi Al,

Yes, you might want to visit the Crocker Art Gallery in Sacramento. I
think is is near =22O=22 and third street, but don't hold me to that. =
Twenty
minutes west in the Town of Davis (Home to the University of Davis where
Bob Arneson and Wayne Thiebeau (sp) taught), is a place called The Artery.
It is an artist co-op and has some interesting work . Also in Davis is the
Natsulous Gallery. I am not sure what is in there right now but there is
usually ceramics of some sort. Then you can Travel east of Sacramento
about 60 miles to the charming towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley. they
are only three miles apart, on Hwy 49 in the gold country. Gallery II is
located on Mill street , and our new retail gallery, =22Mostly Clay and =
Fine
Crafts=22, is located in Downtown Nevada City.

Have a great visait and hope to see you=21

Al,

Contact the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission at 916/264-5558; 800
10th Street in Sacramento. They can give you a list of galleries in the
greater Sacramento area. Also, contact Rodney Mott (see another posting on
this list about the Voulkos et al workshop in June for his #/address). In
Auburn, you can visit quite a few galleries including A.R.T.S. (530/885-ARTS).

Have a great time!

Rodney Mott can be reached at 916-663-2815. If you can catch him at home he has
great wood kiln setup which is quite interesting. Also, I can direct you to a
number of local potters if you can give me an idea of what you would like to see
