I love my Jepson Potters wheel. Cost a fortune to bring into Canada, but I
love throwing on it. I made the mistake of not getting the table top with
the wings, and had to cut them in after I got it. I bought all the bells and
whistles with it, as shipping etc. to add piece by piece, would cost a
fortune. The chuck heads work really great, and much better than the plastic
ring I had bought earlier to use on my pacifica. The only complaint I have
is not being able to order a mold to make more paster bats for the chuck
heads. Steven needs to get on this. If you buy one of his wheels, with the
chuck head feature, you should be able to buy the molds to make the bats to
use with it. As for the wheel, runs smooth and true like a kickwheel.
Footpedal has caused me no problems at all. Love the big splash pan, in fact
have 2 of them, one for triimming, or changing to different clay. I use one
for Raku clay and one for stoneware. The really really big feature of this
wheel is the easy changing of wheelheads, splashpans etc. Everything on it
pops off. No screwdrivers or stupid Allen Wrenches needed. I can't imagine
going back to the grope and find for tools again. I also bought an extra
water bucket so use two buckets when throwing. One for scraps, and one for
water. Works really well and when I am finished throwing I just grab the
scraps and rewedge for next time. I love it, love it, love it. Spring is on
its way, and I got to try the new reduction chamber I had made for Raku last
weekend. Now there is a find, let me tell you. Had new neighbors build next
door last year and never did a single raku and I was worried about the smoke
blowing in their open windows. The new reduction chamber box gives NO Smoke.
Unbelieveable. If anyone wants to know about this reduction system, I
believe the plans came from Culpeppers in Calgary. We had a sheet metal guy
build ours here in Claresholm for $125.00, and its the best money I've spent
in a long time. Very simple system made out of galvanized sheet metal.
Bottom box has a trough around the inside edge of the box. Fill trough half
full of fiber fax. A metal wire screen fits in the bottom of the bottom box.
Then a box lid is made to fit on the trough, and sits on the fiber fax.
Handle fairly high up on two side of the lid. Put in your reduction
material, or use pails with reduction material, put in your pots, reduction
material catches fire, put on the lid and press down a little on the corners
and the lid goes womp as it sucks in the sides of the lid making it
airtight. Best colors we've ever had and NO SMOKE.

I really like my bifocals,
My dentures fit me fine,
My hearing aid works perfect,
But Lord I miss my mind.
