colored shiny paper for raku, pit firing

the cat lady wrote about pit firing, using colored shiny paper between
pots. Raku people extol praises of using colored shiny newspaper
supplements or magazine pages in post firing reduction. Anyone know
WHAT raw materials are in these papers to warrant their use? Ceramic
colorants? Kaolin? organic binders? Carolyn

We think it is the kaolin in the shinny paper. We have had great results, and
no scraching on the surface.
