Nicki, I would think that your problem is twofold. First, you expect
artists to give up time in their studio and pay $125 for a booth in a
one-time show with no history. That time of year you have a TON of
competition, at proven shows, possibly with lower booth fees. Second, you
are expecting the pottery artist to pay for a booth AND demonstrate, thereby
providing you with two forms of entertainment for free. I'm assuming this
will be an outdoor show, which will prolly not be pleasant weather-wise -
I'm guessing September in Oklahoma will prolly still be hot. :(

If you want potters to demonstrate, offer them free boothspace, or better
yet pay 'em. Hauling supplies around is hard work. Good luck.

They are charging someone to demonstrate? I usually expect to either be paid
or get a booth in a good fair to provide the education/entertainment.

Greetings,

I am a working artist, I understand the negativity surrounding a show like this. But I also expect my peers to celebrate the fact I am trying to create a show of artists not craft show vendors. I am very disapointed in the response Clay Art members have chosen to give me. And the booths are for a fee, I am working with a city that can only see the $. The demonstrations are held in a adorable gazebo and are free for everyone. I had just hoped someone out there could see my vision. I guess I will resort to craft fair vendors.
