bailey's potters wheel

updated mon 22 feb 99

I've been following the potters wheel thread that's shaken down into three
camps; Brent lovers, Pacifica lovers/haters, and everyone else. There's
been no mention of Bailey's Pro wheel. Has anyone out there used a Bailey
and what did you think? I have a Cowley (?!) and it's so noisy I don't even
bother to turn on the radio - well, considering the two available stations,
perhaps it's just as well. I want to get a new, strong, reliable and quiet
wheel so keep any and all comments coming. By the way, any more info on the
Jepson model? Shopping from thousands of miles away...
Regards from Dubai, at the base of the Gulf,

CJ

I just got one .. have been using it for about a month . I don't think you
could do much better , maybe equal? . It is Very! quite , smooth , easy to
clean up , well built . All the scraps stay contained so I rarely have
anything on the floor . Attaching shelves are very nice . For me it has made
throwing a real pleasure .

I also have a Cowley and it's very quiet. We've had some of this make
that "drum", this is because the side panels get loose. Either tighten
the panel screws, or, if that doesn't do the trick, loosen them a bit
more, wind a piece of string once round them all (not individually) as a
gasket and re-tighten. That usually sorts it out.

How about it out there?
Anyone with info on the Jepson wheel? I have an old shimpo that I love but
it is starting to get a little noisy after 25 years of service. Never had a
problem with it. I've heard the new ones aren't as good. i also have a
Lockerby with an electric assist. Love this wheel too, but it IS noisy with
the motor on. Love the big half-moon table. Don't try to move it more than
a few inches though=21 Heavy sucker=21 Saw Jepson's in the developement
stage. He has a great huge splashpan. Can use it all week practically
without emptying. Would be very interested in hearing what others have to
say about it.
