Great info, but what is Lowes and is it called shredded newspaper insulation
for homes or something else? Also where does one find fiberglass fibers and
nylon fibers and those poly fibers you speak of? What is all of this stuff
like in the kiln? is it toxic or just nasty?
Thanks
Christine

Christine,
I must be in a writing mood tonight. I made my own paper cly by tearing
newspaper i small squares, putting it in my blender with lots of water and
turning it on until I had a pulpy mass. i used my new blender but you
might want to use an old one. Then I used two scoops of thick stoneware
slip to one scoop o sloppy paper pulp and stirred, dried it on a bat, and
voila! a much better papercla than I could get from my local clay
sulpplier. I couldn't even wedge the store bought stuff. My was just right,
and I made some great tall bottles from slabs and then added thrown necks
from regular clay. They were very light and lovely. Don't know what the
nylon and fiberglass fibers would do.

Thenylon and fiber glass fibers simply add another kind of fiber
to the claybody. these will not be good for most applications, but
you will find places were they will work.
