Jim;
My experience with Cd/ Se colors are with glass, so the temperatures are
a guess at best. What many of the reds need is to be cooled to just
below red heat (1300f?) and then quickly struck or heated until the
piece starts moving and my guess this would be red heat (1600f?) If the
piece stays hot for too long the red will go back to clear yellow and
you have to do it again.

Putting the glaze on thicker, as has been suggested, might help also.
The thicker glaze, if it stays on the pot, will strike itself on
natural cooling.
