cheaper glaze stirrer

A while ago someone posted the idea of welding a few links of chain on a
rod for a glaze stirrer. I finally got one made by a friend who is a
fabricator, and it works great. I used 5 links of chain, welding the
middle link onto a 3/8 rod. That link can be hammered or pressed in a
bit, to keep the other links from both switching to the same sides, but
generally works fine without that. To use it, mount it in a drill and
keep it submerged in the glaze bucket. I had it mix up glazes that have
settled for years...
If you don't know a welder, my friend said he'd be willing to make some,
sized for 5 gallon buckets, for around $15 plus shipping. Post to me if
you are interested.
I haven't used the Jiffy Mixer, so can't compare it, except in price
($45.00)
