in a quick fix...........during a firing, or you cannot get a new
one.........i dip the entire end in borax, coat the entire thing.
then give a quick weld with a torch.....just let the borax melt
and become almost a glass coating on the tip.
this does not make a new thermocouple........hell, buy a
new one.
this just makes a quick fix to get you through a
firing.

mel/mn finally, -50 below zero f. tonite. (wind chill factor)
god i feel nordic. my body comes alive.
i smile a great deal. want to take my chain saw out and cut dead trees.
gotta get david hendley up here for contrast. (texas, what a concept)

say friends.........remember, i write with a broad brush.......sometimes
things get caught in that brush.........like david not getting
ash effects........of course he does. but only on occasion......sorta
like i get carbon trapping.......sometimes perfect.......but it does
not matter when i do not get it.
details.........well, you get the picture.

most kiln blow ups are from unburnt fuel being ignited all at once.
sorta like not venting your kiln during the pre/heat and then light one
big burner.............phooooph.......ump.......loosen all the bricks.

i have not had personal experience with this.........cuzz i am chicken shit.
always vent a great deal.....and use a burnzo/matic torch to heat the
stack and get things going one direction..........up and out.
if you leave a gas burner on for 10 minutes, then lite it........be able
to run fast...............really fast.
