I have been reading the posts on teapot handles with great interest.
Another source for those who do not wish to make there own is:
AXNER POTTERY SUPPLY CO.
e-mail is axner@attmail.com
website www.axner.com
phone: 800-843-7057

They are based in Florida and have a large catalog with a variety of items,
good for raw materials, tools, etc.

On the making your own handles question, I have a request for Dannon Rhudy.
You say that bamboo is available in large quantities in Texas. Not the case
here in New York, and the basket supply cos. I contact did not carry it.
Locally, I have only been able to find bamboo posts painted green carried
by garden supply stores, very thick covered with heavy paint, not nice for
handles! Can you please post from where one can obtain bamboo by mail
order. Thanks in advance.

Veena, I said that bamboo grows WILD in Texas, in large amounts.
It is available to anyone who wants to stop by the roadside or trek
to the river bank and cut some. Or to the backyard of any who foolishly
planted some "just for this one spot". It is a ferocious invader.
Generally speaking, I'd suggest boots, snakes being also available
in generous quantity here....same rules for cane, which also is everywhere.

Wisecracks aside, look on the web, search for "baskets" or "basketry".
There are several
suppliers who sell it, though many don't. I would suggest that you
also check the garden supply centers, they often have bamboo dry
as well as bamboo growing in containers. If I knew a place here who
carried it, I'd let you know, but in fact haven't looked for it anywhere
except
along the roads and creeks. Sorry not to be more help.

Veena--
As I recall you live somewhere in NY, and bamboo also grows there. I grew
up in upstate NY, and bamboo invaded the vacant lot next to our house and
stayed until a bulldozer came and tore it out. It`s out there...
