Just finished a strong reduction firing and FINALLY got some lovely warm
tone shinos and some totally luscious celadons, big fat drops on the
bottom, cloudy blue almost green, like an iceberg, as Joyce in the Mohave
puts it? (There, Joyce?)
THANKS to Clayart advisors and also to Pete Pinell for his article in Clay
Times which could have been called "Celadons for Dummies."
However, even with all that reduction I got ^9 on the bottom and ^10+ on
the top. Some firings have been much closer, and I thought reduction helped
even things out. The kiln gods at work to keep us humble.

Pete Pinell had several glazes in his article; this one was the one I tried:
** Deller Chun ^10 Reduction
Custer (Potash) Feldspar 43.2
Grolleg Kaolin 2.0
Flint 27.8
Gerstley Borate 9.1
Dolomite 9.1
Zinc Oxide 1.8
Strontium Carbonate 3.0
Add :
Tin Oxide 2.7
Red Iron Oxide 0.5
"Nice transparent pale blue color. No crazing. Best color on grolleg
porcelain
clay." (One of my pieces did craze a little, however. ^9)
