I tried a sawdust firing in my electric kiln last week. I used the
"foil packaging" method and then placed these in a saggar. The saggar
was made of raku clay and bisqued to ^06. I used an old kiln shelf for
the lid and fired to ^018. The inside of the saggar was very black in
some areas but there was virtually no smoke coming from the kiln (I left
all the peepholes open). I live in a high density urban area and though
I have only done this once I would do it again. Some of the pots came
out really nice, some didn't - need to experiment some more. Hope this
is of some help.
