There was a lot of discussion on this on Clayart in the past.
There are plans for making a pugmill in Harry Davis' book The Potter's
Alternative (now out of print). There is commercial video on Harry Davis
which illustrates some of the techniques used in the manufacture of a
pugmill ("Harry and May Davis - Potters").
