almost any clay can be rakued.
all you have to do is have the students wedge in a great deal of
sand and grog.
i have rakued almost every body around..........including porcelain.
just have to open it up........and do a good bisque.
high iron bodies will sometimes reduce white glazes pink.
other than that.............go to it.

i hate having low fire bodies hanging around a classroom. sure as hell
someone will stick it in a stoneware firing and the screams can be heard
for miles around....and that is just me, not the kids with ruined pots.
mel/not even thinking about starting 180 kids a day in a clay studio.
august...........back to school ads don't even bother me any more.
retired, what
a concept.

Mel,
Thanks for your coments, I certainly do not have the time to make
several clay bodies. You also bring up a VERY valid point about
students with two clay bodies (one low fire and one high fire) in a
studio.
GADS-----I've had the same thing happen. Had one kid who kept
insisting that a low fire clay would work in cone 10 IF he put a HIGH
fire glaze on it. He was told in no uncertain terms that it would NOT
work. the little devil snuck the pot in when no one was looking-----
Guess what? Salvador Doly (SP?) all over the kiln. Caught about four
shelves. I was NOT happy and neither was he when he had to clean
every shelf in the studio (including ones not affected) and put new
wash on all. He never tried THAT again!
Anyhow thanks for the info-----Enjoy your retirement.
