I believe that the reason that you can get matt and not shiny crystals
with such a small amount of alumina is the combination of barium and
calcium. My glaze has enough barium to scare away all but the most brave
---over 30% BaCo3.You can access this glaze in the March/ April 1997
issue of Clay Times.
