i've found that using a polarizing filter on the camera
lens is not sufficient to rid you of reflections completly. i had a lot
of trouble trying to shoot large bowl w/ glossy glazes-they are in
essense a parabolic reflector-... but by using polarizing filters over
the light source AND the lens i was able to dial out the reflectionsby
rotating the filter on the lens. using these filters cut down
significantly on the brightness of the light so ihd to switch to 500 watt
bulbs from 250's.
also, i'm using diffusion screens to soften the light. works
quite well.
