knight kiln

Hey Clayarters! Hope you can help me with this. I've been given a Knight
Kiln, electric, and have been told it is unuseable. There is no way to get
parts. Is this true? It looks brand new on the inside, but will have to
rewire my house in order to set it up, I think. So would it be worth it? All
the books and kiln furniture and shelves look like it hasn't even been used.
Do I just use it for raku? I'm in the KCMO area, is there anyone I should talk
to?
Thanks in advance!

I have an old Knight and if you need elements call Euclid.

You can buy parts for the kiln setter directly from Dawson.

Switches can be replaced with electric stove switches from your local
appliance dealer.

I can't think of anything else that can go wrong.

Hi,
No, this is not true. We can help. We have most of the parts for this kiln
in stock. If we don`t have it, I will do my best to help you find it.

Kelley Webb Randel,

I have a Knight and it works just great. I didn't even rewire the
house. I bought a range outlet, some romack wire and the breakers. My
landlord wired the outside breaker box, ran the romack (10g) under the
house and we put the outlet on the porch.

I initially had a problem with the kiln element switches but I called
Mark ? (advertizes in ClayTimes and is out of MD) and he gave the right
part to order from where and answered all my questions. I did the kiln
wiring myself and I had a perfect bisque firing.

Plug the thing in first before you decide it doesn't work.

I have recently acquired a Knight Kiln Model 82 in excellent condition. The
manual was lost long ago and was wondering if anyone out there knows how I
might find one. Thanks!

Several years ago there were queries regarding Knight
Kilns. I checked the archives. Now I have the
opportunity to pick up a Knight 82T in what looks
like good condition. It was used by a china painter.
Anyway I'd like to know if anyone out there is still
using Knight Kilns and how well pleased they are with
them (particularly this model if possible). My kiln
repairman says he can get elements etc. So that's
probably not an issue. I'll take replies off list if
anyone choses that route. Thanks in advance.

Anyone have the specs for a Knight 103t?
(Element resistance and such?) Has any
extant company taken over their 'legacy' stuff?

Snail,

Have you tried calling Euclid's (800-296-5456)? They are supposed to know
about Knight kilns, if you don't find a better answer coming your way.

Nothing against Euclid's, but I'm trying to _avoid_
buying new elements, and so don't want to bother
them. If I do get new elements, I'll go to my local
supplier first. They can fabricate to any spec, and
it's worth it not to have to make them myself.

Euclids knows more about those kilns than anyone. No other kiln company h=

taken over for Knight.
