help!never fired gas/soda before

Hi everyone, I am about to fire for the first time soda kiln built this
summer. I have been firing electric for more years than I wish to admit to,
and finally have the space to use fire, but I have never done anything more
than be present at any gas/reduction/ salt firings. I know enough to know that
I will have to play with my kiln, learn it, adjust it and my notions of what
to expect. But what I know about increasing temps, soaking etc comes down to
turning knobs marked low, med, high every hour or two and waiting for cones to
bend. I can't translate that to what to do with burners, dampers, regulators
etc. I need help of several kinds:
a "typical" firing schedule for ^10 soda firing AND what to do - meaning
things like how in fact do I increase temp? How much do I turn knobs and how
often? Do I adjust/increase/decrease temp with air flow at burners/ damper.
You can be as specific as you want...assume(correctly) that I know NOTHING.
Thanks for any help. -Laurie
