i am looking for a friend ,for a rare glaze.
it is a copper matt, high temp, oxidized.
when it comes from the kiln, it is black.
then the potter uses a patina acid........prob. sulphuric...
and the pot looks very old and patina like.
it is used on sculptural clay.................................we promise
not to drink
wine from mugs of this glaze.
any ideas.?........you can post me
private......or give to the net......cool idea.
mel/mn back from travel and will respond to that later.
the lagging jet has my brain in the vice. and i have to get the
front end loader fixed...that is the `bobcat`.

p.s. one of our fine minnesota potters has the glze....but will only give it
on his death bed...........so be it. we are not going to rush him along.

Dear Mel,

Here is a recipe of a matte black copper glaze which looks wonderful in cone
10 reduction. black with greyish subtle nuances some hints of red or grey
blue, breaking gold on sharp edges or where incised. This glaze does not
stand over-firing without going translucent army green.

15 pounds custer feldspar
2 pounds nephelene syenite
2 punds
