I was recently given a very small kiln, the inside is the size of a
firebrick & was used for "lost wax" for silver jewellery. The kiln will
go up to 1600* F. so can be used for copper enamelling. I was wondering
if anyone out there in Clayart World has had any experience with this?
I was told that you can use oxides & underglaze pencils in the process
but wasn't told how. Would appreciate any info. on this subject, it
will be a nice diverson from making pots at the end of Dec. when there
is a little free time.

*****************************************************Combining ceramic
elements in the enameling process is an area that J.E. Jasen of NY City has
explored. She is highly regarded in enameling circles both in the US and
Internationally. She is an award winner in this years Silverhawk Exhibition.
On her web site she talks a little about her explorations.

I think you may be surprised how much Contemporary enamelist have evolved
the media into a sophisticated art form. I'm sure some of the techniques
learned in enameling can be applied to ceramic surface design.

joanna, in oregon where the end of summer is almost heartbreakingly beautiful.

(full moon coming around 11:30 pm Sunday night. get out on the water or up on
a mountain somewhere and howl - with joy, with pain, with all of it!)
