Hello Georg, As a potter arriving here in the 'States from Scotland some eight
years back, I too was surprised that there were essentially no computer-
controlled kilns over here. I don't know why, as Americans are generally
overly interested in technology for its own sake.
They are available now, though, and when I've sold a few more teapots I might
be able to afford one.
Before computers in the U.K. we had temperature/soak/shutoff controllers that
operated in a similar way to home heating timer/controllers. I think these are
still available through Marc Wards' in the 'States.

pipes!
