During the summer of 1997, I had the good fortune of leading a group of 18
individuals to China to visit many pottery and tourist sights. I have been
asked by several people to repeat the tour again during the summer of 1999.

One member of our group was Jean Silverman, editor of the Studio Potter
Network Newsletter. She wrote two wonderfully detailed articles in Volume
10, Number 2 and Volume 11, Number 1 of the Newsletter. I would encourage
anyone interested in China and it's pottery to read these articles as they
clearly and vividly chronicle our trip through China. Jean did and
outstanding job of depicking our travels and the various experiences we
encountered. For those of you who do not receive the Newsletter and would
like to read Jean's fascinating description, you may write to the Studio
Potter Network, 41 Neal Mill Road, Newmarket, NH 03857. The cost of each
back issue is $3.50 or $7.00 for both installments and checks should be
made out to Studio Potter Network. Jean informs me that she cannot accept
paynment thourgh credit cards or email.
For those of you out there who would like to travel to China for
approximately 21 days or so and would like to see the rich ceramic and
cultural history of China please contact me as soon as possible. The
cities we will be visiting include: Shanghai, Suzhou, Yixing, Jingezhen,
Xian, Beijing and a special 4 day river cruise on the Yangtze River. The
incredible city of Guilin is included in a 25 day itinerary.

The date of the tour has not been finalized , but will most likely be the
end of June or beginning of July for either a 21 day tour at the cost of
approximately $3860 or a 25 day tour at the cost of approximately $4238.
The cost of the tour includes air transportation to China and back,
excellent hotel accommodations, 3 meals each day, all internal
transportation while in China, by air, train, bus and boat; a national
guide and a local guide in each city. Academic credit is available from
Keene State College, Keene, NH 03431. Again, anyone interested in such an
adventure may reach me by email at: sazzaro@keene.edu or telephone:
603-358-2703. I will continue to provide those individuals who contact
me with more information as specifics of the tour develops.
