heat in our posts

I have seen a number of comments recently that showed that people were
uncomfortable with "heated discussion," they were asking for the heat to be
turned down. With a few ground rules observed, I think we need heat
(heat=passion). We should be careful not to show disagreement by resorting to
personal attacks. We should be careful about not jumping to conclusions. As
has been shown recently, a number of us have jumped to erroneous conclusions
that have resulted in misunderstanding. Usually that makes ourselves look
kinda stupid.
If you are not passionate about clay though, then why are you here?
Passionate people talking about their passion obsessions are going to create
some heated discussions sometimes, that is what this forum is all about I
think. We just need to be nicer to each other in the process. If I have not,
then I apologize. But lets not the passion of the dance. It is what gives
our work life.

Hi Earl,
You have stated many really constructive points here. Heated discussions
can be very productive in my opinion, and even if there are misunderstandings I
believe that people should not resort to personal attacks. That has been my
problem with these heated discussions. Nor do I believe that any one single
way is the "right" way to do something. We all have personal beliefs and only
each individual can know what is right for him or her. Everyone derives
personal satisfaction in their own unique way and it is not the right of others
to question it. Perhaps we should all ask more questions before making
responses, then some of the misperceptions might possibly be avoided. Either
way, I love Clayart and I am glad to be part of it!
Sincerely,
Dana Henson
